The wine is dedicated to the memory of Max Lindhorst, Mark’s father, who gave him the opportunities in life and encouragement to create Lindhorst Wines. This is the third vintage of wine under this label, and this year is a very interesting blend.
| Harvest: |
The Shiraz is Lindhorst, Viognier is from Franschoek, the Mouvedre is from Darling making up a true "Coastal blend". Grapes from the off site vineyards were regulary visited to guarantee the quality. As is the practice with all our fruit, grapes were cooled down on arrival at the cellar to ensure the retention of fruit intensity.

| Vinification: |
After gentle crushing of the Shiraz and Viognier, the combined mash was kept cool for two days to aid extraction of color & flavour. Temperatures during fermentation were kept lower than normal in order to retain the Viognier aromas. The Shiraz and Viognier were co-fermented. The wine was aged in 40% new oak and 60% second fill French and Hungarian bariques for 22 months and bottled after a light filtration. The barrels of Mouvedre were blended into the main wine at the end. |

| Tasting Notes: |
Deep ruby core with a lighter rim. Rhone style is immediately evident. Spicy richness from Shiraz, and savoury notes from Mouvedre combine with opulence from Viognier to make a complex nose and palate richness. Tones of black pepper, espresso and dark fruit. Aromas follow through on palate and linger. Ripe and rich tannins add to texture of wine. Will benefit from decanting now, but will cellar well for 5 years or more. (Tasted July 2009) |
| Food Recommendations: |
Lovely with mediterannean dishes such as a light Moussaka made with fresh Parmesan and Greek youghurt, fish soup with a tomatoe base, pastas, roast duck and try a creamy pumpkin soup with lemongrass and a hint of chilli. |
